WELCOME TO AUDICY! INTRODUCTION ------------ The Disk Images directory contains several executable files, three of which will create an install diskette needed for the Audicy Software Version 3.10. WHAT'S ON THE FTP SITE ---------------------- The basic software for Version 3.10 is distributed to Audicy users free of charge. The image files for the basic software installation diskettes are contained in the Disk Images directory or shipped as part of an upgrade kit. If you have been shipped the kit, please skip down to the section titled INSTALLING AUDICY SOFTWARE. -------------------------- The files in the DISK IMAGES directory are: aud_disk3.10a.exe System Software Disk 2 of 2 AUD Version 3.10A0 PN: 44515.310.00 res_disk3.10a.exe System Software Disk 1 of 2 RES Version 3.10A0 PN: 44516.310.00 utl_disk50.exe Basic Utilities UTL Version 5.00A0 PN: 44506.500.00 CREATING INSTALLATION DISKETTES ------------------------------- Each of these files is a self-contained program that will create a bootable installation diskette for your Audicy system. The procedure is very simple, and can be done entirely on the computer connected to the Internet. Refer to the section INSTALLING AUDICY SOFTWARE in order to determine which diskette images you should download. Step 1: Download one or more of the executable files to a directory on your computer (don't download them to a floppy disk, you'll create a floppy from the files on the directory in the following steps.) You may want to create a folder so that these files can be found easily. Step 2: Insert an empty IBM-formatted 1.44 MB floppy disk into drive A: on the computer containing the downloaded files. This disk does not have to be formatted the extraction utility will do that for you. Step 3: Locate the file you wish to extract (for instance UTL_DISK50.EXE). Simply double click on the file name. A screen will open up which says WinImage Self Extractor. Verify "Writing on Floppy" is checked and the correct drive letter is indicated in the "Writing on Floppy" section. Step 4: Click OK, then OK again. Remove and label the disk. Repeat these steps for each of the three files in the Disk Images folder. Do not follow this procedure for chunkedit.zip. Step 5: For chunkedit.zip, simply download to a convenient location on your Windows computer, unzip and double click on the chunkedit.exe icon to execute. INSTALLING AUDICY SOFTWARE -------------------------- Once you have prepared your installation diskettes, install them on your Audicy in the usual fashion in the following order: Basic Utilities (UTL) System Software Disk 1 of 2 (RES) System Software Disk 2 of 2 (AUD) Note that install operations have been known, on occasion, to hang forever. This can occur if your diskette contains unreliable media. If this happens, recreate the defective installation diskette on another diskette, then continue with the installation, using the new installation diskette. OBTAINING DOCUMENTATION ----------------------- For those of you who use Windows 95/98/NT and MS Word, you can download the online documentation. The following files can be found in the V31.0 Documents and Instructions folder: V3.10_Upgrade.txt A brief welcome to our upgrade customers, plus last- minute information. V3.10_Install.txt Download and installation instructions for the Version 3.1 software. V3.10_Mini_Manual.pdf Release notes for the software: contains changes and updates, as well as a brief operating manual for the new features. AUDICY CART CHUNK EDITOR V1.0 ----------------------------- The fourth executable file in the V3.10_Release folder is chunkedit.zip. Once downloaded and unzipped, it will yield chunkedit.exe, a Windows utility to edit Cart Chunk information in compatible WAVE files.
